Georgia gas prices drop, defying the national trend

Atlanta- While the national price of gas increased slightly this week, drivers in Georgia enjoyed relief at the pump.

From AAA:

Georgia drivers are getting some relief as gas prices continue to slip. Cheaper winter fuel and strong local supply pushed the state average down to $2.64 per gallon on Monday, even while national prices edged up due to refinery problems and global market swings. Small day‑to‑day changes are still possible.

Compared to recent benchmarks:

It’s 2 cents lower than last week
12 cents lower than last month
32 cents lower than this time last year
For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank, the cost now comes to approximately $39.60.

⛽ Drivers See National Gas Prices Increase

The national average inched up to $2.82 a gallon this week, though prices remain well below last year’s $3.12. January usually brings cheaper pump prices thanks to lower demand and winter‑blend gasoline. Crude oil costs are also staying low, even as markets watch rising tensions in Iran, a major OPEC producer whose supply disruptions could influence prices in the U.S.

Electric:

The national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station remains at 38 cents. To plan ahead, drivers can check charging prices along their route using AAA’s TripTik Travel Planner.

Regional Prices:

Atlanta ($2.66)

The most expensive metro markets in Georgia are Savannah ($2.74), Macon ($2.70), and Hinesville-Fort Stewart ($2.69).

The least expensive metro markets in Georgia are Catoosa-Dade-Walker ($2.54), Rome ($2.53), and Albany ($2.51).
