ARRESTED: Juvenile male 15 years of age, Valdosta resident
Over the past month, the Valdosta Police Department has responded to numerous calls of thefts from vehicles. Through investigation, detectives identified a 15-year-old male juvenile as a person of interest in multiple cases.
On August 27, 2024, officers received information that the juvenile was at a residence in the 1800 block of North Troup Street. Officers and Detectives located the juvenile hiding inside the residence. He was taken into custody without any incident.
As officers were attempting to locate the juvenile, they found evidence connecting him to multiple thefts from vehicles, as well as a motor vehicle theft. After several victims received their property back, they declined to prosecute the juvenile.
The 15-year-old male has been charged with three counts of theft by entering auto (felony), as well as theft by taking motor vehicle (felony). The juvenile also had an active arrest warrant from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. The juvenile was detained at a Regional Youth Detention Center.
Along with the 15-year-old being charged with theft by taking motor vehicle, detectives determined that a 14-year-old and a 13-year-old were also involved in the motor vehicle theft. They have been charged with theft by taking motor vehicle, party to the crime (felony).
