VALDOSTA – A Stockbridge man was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle by VPD after a car chase and foot pursuit.

Release:

Arrested: Antoine Dwyane Green, African American male, 44 years of age, Stockbridge, GA resident

On August 16, 2024, at approximately 1200 pm., a citizen reported seeing his stolen vehicle in the 600 block of North Lee Street.  Valdosta Police Officers, who were in the area, observed the truck being driven recklessly.  As officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver took off at a high rate of speed, trying to elude officers.  Officers pursued the vehicle until it wrecked into another car, at the intersection of North Ashley Street and East Gordon Street.  After the accident the driver, later identified as Antoine Dwayne Green, 44 years of age, ran from the vehicle.  After a short foot pursuit, a Valdosta Police Department K-9 Unit apprehended Green.

Green was transported to South Georgia Medical Center, where he was treated and released from injuries that he received from the K-9 bite.  After receiving treatment, he was transported to Lowndes County Jail, and he has been charged with:

  • Theft by receiving stolen property-felony;
  • Fleeing and attempting to elude-felony;
  • Obstruction of an officer-misdemeanor;
  • Hit and run-leaving the scene of an accident-misdemeanor; and
  • Numerous traffic violations.

Green also had an active arrest warrant through Dekalb County, unrelated to this case.

There were no serious injuries reported from the traffic accident.

“This was great work by our officers quickly responding to the area, along with the persistence of our K-9 in apprehending this offender.  At noon, traveling recklessly through major streets of our city, we are thankful that no one was seriously injured.” Said Chief Leslie Manahan.
