Dogfighting, Drugs Uncovered At Home On Madison Highway

Police say arrests are ‘imminent’ following a weekend raid on a home on Madison Highway in rural Lowndes County. Deputies with the LCSO went to the house at 5535 Madison Highway Friday evening after obtaining a search warrant based on an investigation regarding a dogfighting ring.

Investigators recovered 27 dogs, treadmills, a large trailer used for the transportation of dogs, a variety of other items used in the training of dogs and a quantity of dog medications.

Several marijuana plants and a quantity of cocaine were also located and seized.

The dogs were taken into custody by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals 
and the Humane Society of the United States.
