State Rep Chapman To Run For District 1 House Seat

vote concept 2Add a 5th person to the list of those who will run to replace Jack Kingston in Georgia’s 1st Congressional District. State Representative Jeff Chapman (R-Brunswick) confirmed Tuesday that he will also seek that House seat.

Chapman made an announcement on social media Tuesday and has filed papers with the Federal Election Commission, but has yet to make a ‘formal’ announcement.

In 2004, Chapman was elected to the Georgia Senate but left in 2010 to run for governor. He was then elected to the Georgia House in 2012.

Other Republicans running for the congressional seat include state Sen. Buddy Carter of Pooler, former Kingston aide David Schwarz of Savannah, Savannah surgeon Bob Johnson and former agriculture official Darwin Carter of Alma. Johnson just announced his candidacy over the weekend.
