VALDOSTA, GA – Each year Georgia school public relations professionals are invited to submit publications, photographs and electronic media, falling into 13 categories, for evaluation by a public relations group in another state.

The state awards include Bronze, Silver, Gold and Best in Category. Judges score each entry on a 100-point scale, evaluating overall professionalism, look and whether or not the piece achieved the intended goals.

This year, Lowndes County submitted the One Lowndes magazine to be judged in the Special Purpose Publication category. The awards were presented at the annual GSPRA conference in Macon. With 15 items being recognized in the category, Lowndes County received one of 7 Gold Awards – indicating a score of 90 or above.

Superintendent Wes Taylor and the Lowndes Board of Education recognized the award at the January board meeting and expressed appreciation to the hard-working individuals who brought the project from a vision to reality.
