MOULTRIE, GA – Law enforcement agencies hope to restore the medical examiners position at the state crime laboratory in Moultrie. Law enforcement has recently reopened the crime laboratory, and they are pushing for more. The medical examiners position has been vacant for more than six years. Colquitt County Sheriff Al Whittington states there have been 308 bodies sent for autopsies to the GBI’s other labs in Atlanta and Macon, and that number calls for a forensic pathologist in the South Georgia area.
