pit bull bewareTwo Valdosta residents have been arrested and charged with what federal authorities are calling the second largest dogfighting bust in history. In all, ten people in four states face charges after local and federal agents in GA, MS, TX, and AL seized weapons, drugs, and over a half-million in cash.

Locally, 36-year old Raymond Lee Hendrix is charged with dog fighting and possession of tools for commission of a crime and 39-year old Tara Hunt has been charged with party to a crime.

Echols County Sheriff’s investigators with the GBI raided the couple’s Copeland Road home early Friday morning, where they found kennels and nine pit bulls- many of the dogs suffered from apparent fighting injuries.

According to the Lowndes County assessor’s office, Hendrix’ name appears as the owner of the Madison Highway home that was raided by Lowndes deputies on similar charges.
