prison wallValdosta, GA– A Cecil man remains in the Lowndes County Jail after pulling what he called a ‘joke’ at Southeastern Federal Credit Union on North Valdosta Road Friday evening. 54-year old Ivan Sumlin allegedly walked in, waited in line, then handed a teller a note stating he was there to rob the bank. He then sat down, at which point the teller called 911.

When police arrived, they found no weapons on Sumlin’s person nor in his vehicle. According to officers, Sumlin told investigators he was ‘just joking.’

He is now charged with criminal intent to commit a robbery.
