rp_primary_IMG_8866VALDOSTA — The Valdosta State softball program, which finished as the No. 2 team in the nation in 2014, matched their impressive performance on the field with an equally outstanding effort in the classroom, as nine Blazers earned All-America Scholar-Athlete honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday.

The NFCA Academic Awards program recognized NCAA student-athletes and teams based on their submitted GPA’s for the 2013-2014 academic year, and the following players posted a 3.5 or higher:

Courtney Albritton, Brittany Britt, Caitlyn Calhoun, Courtney Gibbs, Kelly Gordon, Karson King, Halie Imler, Fran Johnson, and Maci Fletcher

The NCAA Division II list of honorees included 692 student-athletes, while 408 schools in each of the combined divisions had at least one student-athlete earn the academic honor.

Congratulations to the Blazer softball team on their outstanding work this past season both on the field and in the classroom.
