Pair of Blazers Advance to NCAA Golf Super-Regional

VALDOSTA, GA – A pair of Valdosta State golfers, juniors John Fordham and Alex Jones, have been selected to play in the NCAA South/Southeast Men’s Golf Regional at Savannah Quarters Country Club beginning next Monday, May 5 in Savannah, Ga.

Fordham averaged 74.7 strokes per round in Valdosta State’s 28 rounds this season. He recorded two Top 10 and five Top 20 finishes in VSU’s 10 tournaments on the season and saw his score count in 25.5 of the 28 rounds played. He recorded nine rounds of par or better on the year while leading the Blazers in strokes per round on the season.

Jones, in his first year with Valdosta State, averaged 74.8 strokes per round in the 26 rounds he competed in on the season. The DeWitt, Mich. native had two Top 10 and three Top 20 showings on the season, including an 18th-place finish at the Gulf South Conference Championship, and registered six rounds of par or better. Jones had his score count in 23 of the 26 rounds he competed in on the season.

Fordham and Jones are two of the four individuals from the South Region schools to be selected ot play in next week’s regional tournament.
