Lady Blazer Volleyball Turn In Exciting Off-Season Effort in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA – Head Coach Mike Swan and the Valdosta State volleyball team are putting in time during the off-season in order to prepare themselves for the upcoming 2014 season, and based on team’s showing this past weekend in a tournament held in Columbus, Ga., Lady Blazer volleyball fans have alot to be excited about.

Swan, the reigning Gulf South Conference Coach-of-the-Year, and Assistant Coach Jordana Price took their squad to Columbus to participate in four scrimmage matches on Saturday. The contests were organized in a tournament format, and the Lady Blazers swept the competition with four straight victories.

Valdosta State kicked off the day with a 25-14, 25-21 match win against Georgia College, before rolling past Birmingham Southern 25-17, 25-14. In the ensuing match, VSU cruised by Gadsden State, 25-13, 25-11, and the Lady Blazers finished the day with a strong 25-18, 25-19 win over Columbus State.

The team will enter another set of off-season contests in two weeks at Florida Southern in Lakeland, Fla.. The match-ups are scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 12th.
