VALDOSTA, GA – Barry and Lynn each shot a two-round total of four-under 572 to grab the first day lead at the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate at the par 72, 7,113 yard Kinderlou Forest Golf Club Monday.
Barry stood third after the first round with a three-over 291, but shot the low round of the day with a seven-under 281 in the second round while Lynn tied for the first round lead with a 289 before shooting a 283 in the second round. Valdosta State, which also shot a first round 289 and followed with a second round 294, and Armstrong Atlantic, which shot 294-289, tied for third at 583. North Alabama rounded out the top five as it followed a 296 with a 293 for a 13-over 589.
Georgia College and Saint Leo tied for sixth at 589 while Flagler was a stroke behind and Columbus State totaled a 593. Florida Tech rounded out the top 10 at 599 and Rollins was 11th at 600 followed by Clayton State at 602. Florida Southern tallied a 603 and West Florida a 606 while Delta State was at 607 and Eckerd at 608. Lander shot a two-round total of 612 and Georgia Southwestern rounded out the field at 624.
Georgia College’s Bryan Fox, who followed a first round 69 with a second round 71, claimed the first day lead with a four-under 140 while Saint Leo’s Ryan Gendron and Lynn’s Ernesto Vitienes, both of whom shot 71-70, tied for second at 141 while three players were tied for fourth at 142.
For Valdosta State, Florian Schmiedel, who shot 72-72, and John Fordham (69-75) tied for eighth at even par while Michael Nutter (74-73) was three strokes back and tied for 24th. Alex Jones (74-74)was tied for 26th at four-over while Austin McNeill tied for 64th with a 154 after shooting 75-79.
The tournament concludes with a single round beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
