Police stop ATLANTA, GA – New Year’s Eve patrols will increase this week according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The target is to stop drunk and impaired drivers from taking to the road this New Year’s Eve. Officials are encouraging those who may have a little too much to drink to try the new Drive Sober Georgia app for smartphones. The app helps residents find a cab or tow service nearby. Also, Budweiser and Bud Light are doing a program called ‘Tow to Go’ with AAA. They will tow a driver’s car with the driver for up to 10 miles for free.

There were 1,119 alcohol related crashes during the 2012 holiday season from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day resulting in 679 injuries and 20 fatalities.
