Valdosta, GA- A nearly two-month long investigation into the manufacturing and sale of bootleg DVDs has ended with the arrest of one Valdosta man. Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for a home on South Lee Street, where they found over 10,000 illegally copied movies.
Deputies also found a number of recording and copying devices used to generate such a large amount of counterfeit goods. The films were shelved and stacked with price tags, similar to those at a retail store.
33-year old Robert Mitchell, the homeowner, now faces multiple counts of criminal sale of recorded materials and could face federal copyright violations. He was previously charged with a similar crime back in June of 2009.
