A 19-year old Douglas man will be spared the death penalty, but will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to a double murder in 2012.
Shieme Brockington plead guilty Thursday to shooting Tasha Stiles and Angela Ortega; their bodies were found at the edge of a pond off Rexford Batten Road back in February 2012. Assistant DA John Rumker said DNA evidence from Brockington linked him to two unsolved rape cases in Coffee County.
The teenager originally had been charged with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of malice murder, along with one count each of carjacking and arson.
