traffic jamCity leaders and law enforcement in Tifton are hearing complaints from drivers as school heads back for the new year. Heavy congestion around the schools caused by parent drop-offs and buses are making for a bit of a rough commute across the city.

Part of the problem, says some Board of Education officials, are parents walking into their child’s school with them in the morning. They are asking parents to simply drop off their student rather than walk inside, and to make sure their child has all their day’s supplies in hand (or backpack) and ready to go when they get to school.

The area around Annie Bell Clark primary school on Carpenter Road is one of the more congested areas- Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarborough is advising drivers to avoid that area in the mornings if at all possible.
