gun shells crime sceneA Tift County man has been arrested and charged after allegedly shooting two of his neighbors over the weekend. Police say 58-year old Rodney Bennett shot the neighbors in a “dispute over wages.”

The 58-year old had apparently filed a criminal trespass complaint early in the day Sunday, alleging that the unidentified neighbor drove through his yard. Later in the day, Bennett purchased a shotgun and ammunition from a man on nearby Brookfield Road in Chula.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for that home, where they arrested 41-year old Timothy Thompson and charged him with 16 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Bennett, meanwhile, faces four counts of aggravated assault- the two shot are recovering from their injuries, which are said to be non-life threatening.
