behind barsA car break-in and stolen purse led to a high speed chase through the roads of Madison County last week, finally ending in three arrests. Police were called to Crosswinds Rehabilitation Center in Greenville on Thursday after getting a call about a possible car break-in.

Witnesses told sheriff’s deputies that the suspect took off in a gold sedan and headed east on US-90. Deputies attempted to perform a traffic stop on the car, but rather than stop, the driver hit the gas and took off. The car finally got lodged on railroad tracks near Madison, at which point two people got out and ran.

All three suspects, John Wesley Smith Jr., Branden Starling, and Daphne Vincent, were arrested and face burglary and theft charges. Smith faces additional fleeing, eluding, and aggravated assault charges.
