Despite a Republican-controlled legislature that passed a bill allowing illegal immigrants to apply for a temporary driver’s license, Governor Rick Scott (R-FL) yesterday vetoed the bill.

The legislature had passed the bill that stated illegals in the country under a federal ‘deferred action’ program would be allowed to apply for a license. Scott noted in his veto that the ‘deferred action’ policy has not been approved by Congress nor has it been put in place as a federal law.

The bill which passed through Tallahassee overwhelmingly, according to Scott, was an administration order that “could not be used to justify letting someone have a temporary license.”
