All But 2 GA Counties Now Drought-Free

another rain puddleJust 12 months ago, over 95 percent of the state of Georgia was in some level of drought. Fast forward to today, where 99 percent of the state is now out of any drought stage.

The only two counties that remain ‘abnormally dry,’ according to the National Weather Service, are Glynn and McIntosh Counties. The rainfall this growing season is a welcome change of pace for farmers, who may not need to irrigate as much this summer- or if they do, there’s plenty in streams and ponds to use.

Long-range forecasts don’t show the drought coming back anytime soon, either- normal to above-average rainfall is expected through the summer months.
