THOMASVILLE — An arrest has been made regarding the body of a deceased woman found Sunday in Thomasville.

The body of Debra Denise Thigpen, 29 of Thomasville, was found behind a residence at 1201 North Stevens Street in Thomasville on Sunday at approximately 11:55 AM.

The Thomasville Police Department now report that, as a result of an investigation which involved the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the arrest of Sidney Jerome McKinney, 34, has been made related to the case.  McKinney was arrested Sunday night at approximately 10:30 PM.

Investigators reported that they believe an altercation occurred between Thigpen and McKinney resulting in her death, though the cause of her death has not been released.  The two had been in a relationship and there was a history of altercations and accusations of abuse and violence.

McKinney was charged with Felony Murder.  Thigpen’s body has been transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Moultrie for further investigation and autopsy.
