CORDELE BUSINESSMAN BEATEN  |  CORDELE — A Cordele businessman was severely beaten and robbed by one of his employees and is now in the intensive care unit at a Macon hospital.

Eugene Dennard offered Willie Telfair a ride home.  Dennard, a double amputee, was later found by a couple lying in a ditch.  Telfair, age 36 is from Vienna and officials have him in custody on multiple charges. If Dennard does not survive his injuries, charges against Telfair will be upgraded to felony murder.

HANDGUNS STOLEN  |  THOMASVILLE — Thomasville law enforcement officials say that as many as 15 handguns were stolen from the Shepard’s Bait and Tackle Shop along with jewelry valued at $3,000. Police are asking anyone with information regarding this theft to call Thomasville Police at 229-227-3305.

GO BACK AND MOVE AHEAD  |  ATLANTA — Going back to college to finish your degree just got a little easier. A new initiative entitled Go Back Move Ahead is working to equip Georgians for the workforce future.

Administrators say that by 2020 over 60 percent of all jobs in the state will require a post-secondary degree. Online courses will be offered to students who live in areas that are not near college campuses.
