Valdosta State University Holds ‘Active Shooter’ Drill on Friday, May 23

West-Hall-Side-ShotVALDOSTA, GA – Valdosta State University will conduct an on-campus “active shooter” drill on Friday, May 23. The exercise is being coordinated by VSU’s office of Environmental and Occupational Safety and Lowndes County Emergency Management.  The drill will include law enforcement personnel from VSU Police, Valdosta City Police, and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.

A notification when the drill begins will be sent to VSU faculty, staff, and students via the Campus Alert System. At the conclusion of the drill, a second notification issuing an “all clear” will also be sent to faculty, staff and students via the Campus Alert System. In addition, notification about the drill will be placed on the VSU website (www.valdosta.edu) and distributed on the university’s primary social media accounts.

The VSU Campus Alert System uses telephone numbers (voice and SMS/text) that have been entered in the Banner (students) and ADP (faculty and staff) systems.
