Wisenbaker-2 DASHER, GA – The extended qualifying period ended at 5:00pm March 11, and Lowndes County Commission candidate Tally M. “Mark” Wisenbaker, Jr. picked up an opponent in the Republican primary for the Third District Lowndes County Commission seat.

“When I made up my mind to run back in January I called and visited dozens of folks in the community and listened to their concerns about the future of Lowndes,” Wisenbaker said. “And I have and will continue to listen and share with them what my vision for the county is as well.”

Wisenbaker said he wants a county government that creates an environment that treats all businesses, big and small, fairly and encourages growth. “If we do that, then we can fill up these industrial parks, create jobs and expand our tax base which is critical in protecting against tax increases,” he continued.

“I’m honored and humbled by the confidence placed in me and my message by the feedback I’ve gotten so far,” Wisenbaker said, “And I look forward to a spirited campaign as we take our message to the voters of the Third Commission District.”

This is Wisenbaker’s first run for public office. He and his wife of 43 years, Carol, have two grown children and 6 grandchildren. They reside outside of Dasher in south Lowndes County.

The primary election is slated for May 20 with advanced voting beginning on April 28. The last day to register to be able to vote in the primary election is April 21.
