Homeowner Catches Burglars in the Act

Valdosta-Police-Cars-1VALDOSTA, GA – A homeowners unexpected return home results in the arrest of two burglars.

On Monday, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a homeowner came home and found two men leaving his residence carrying armloads of his property, which included multiple firearms. The homeowner then attempted to detain the individuals.

One of the men stayed and surrendered while the other ran off into a wooded area. Valdosta Police Department patrol officers, detectives, K-9 officers, and Crime Laboratory personnel arrived on scene along with personnel from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department, and a perimeter was set up while K-9 units began tracking the suspect.

17 year old D’Ante Scruggs was located in a swampy area between Pebblewood Drive and Lake Drive. He was taken into custody and some of the stolen property was recovered. A second suspect, 18 year old Antonio Webb was arrested at the residence. Both offenders were transported to the Lowndes County Jail, and detectives are currently determining the charges that will be brought against each offender.

They are being held pending further judicial proceedings.
