Sabal-trail-Pipeline-proposal VALDOSTA/LOWNDES COUNTY, GA – Sabal Trail Transmission Pipeline Company has been hosting a series of information meetings throughout southwest Georgia the past few weeks. Representatives have been presenting plans for the laying of a pipeline from Alabama to Florida and answering questions from residents.

Last week Sabal held a forum at Moultrie Technical College. Officials say that they have received permission from 90 percent of the effected landowners in that area. The officials also said they have a 77 percent of Mitchell County residents effected by the pipeline on board with the pipeline.

A meeting will be held in Lowndes County this evening at 5:00 p.m. at the Clyattville Elementary School, 5386 Madison Highway, for Lowndes County residents to ask any questions they may have. Officials from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) will be present at the presentation. The company expects the $3.2 billion project to start in early summer of 2016, and is projected to be in service in May 2017.

A group of Lowndes County residents effected by the pipeline have started a website, click here, to help better inform residents about the pipeline and Sabal Trail Transmission.
