CAIRO, GA – The man Cairo police believe to be responsible for the death of a 3 month old child is now in custody. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Cairo Police Department and Grady County Sheriff’s Office arrested Marcus Smiley, Jr., 29 of Cairo, Wednesday on Harlem Drive just before 11:30 a.m. Smiley has been charged with the October 3rd death of 3 month old Mia Williams. He is also facing charges of malice murder, aggravated battery, and cruelty to children due to injuries he inflicted on a 7 month old in June.
