Bowties & Pearls Gala Raises Money for Scholarships

VALDOSTA, GA – The Kappa Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. hosted its inaugural Bowties & Pearls Scholarship Gala at Mathis City Auditorium on Saturday, Nov. 16.

The event included live entertainment by the Valdosta High School jazz band as well as presentations from two former scholarship recipients about how the scholarship helped them pursue postsecondary education and ultimately achieve their career goals.

Proceeds from ticket sales and sponsors will be used to provide scholarships for deserving high school seniors in the South Georgia and North Florida area. In the past, the scholarship has provided funds for students from Valdosta, Lowndes County, Brooks County and surrounding areas.
