VALDOSTA – Not everyone in town will be at Martin Stadium at 8 p.m. Friday night, although it may seem that way. Logistically, Lowndes High’s home stadium only holds just over 12,000 people although that total may be stretched by kickoff Friday night.

Some games may draw bigger crowds than others. But none guarantee emotion, hostility and fanaticism like the Winnersville Classic. The town will be splashed in black and gold or crimson and silver throughout the week and tickets for the game are officially on sale.

For Lowndes, the first tickets go on sale Monday night at 5:30 p.m. at the Lowndes High School media center for Viking Touchdown Club members. Members must have joined the Touchdown Club prior to Oct. 1, 2013 to exercise the priority. The Viking Touchdown Club will meet at 7 p.m. in the media center.

Also on Monday, Viking season ticket holders can purchase the number of season tickets they hold at Martin Stadium beginning at 7 p.m. Those tickets may be purchased from the ticket office located in the Board of Education annex on Norman Drive.

Due to the high demand for tickets, notes from Touchdown Club members and season ticket holders allowing others to claim their tickets will not be accepted. This does not apply to family members. The change in the ticket priority policy from previous years was done to alleviate the issue of fans having to stand in line during the work day. School system officials said no one will be allowed onto Board of Education property to wait or line up for tickets until after 4:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

Any remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. There will be a limit of eight tickets per person on Wednesday. These tickets may be purchased from the ticket office located in the Board of Education Annex on Norman Drive and the ticket office will be closed on Tuesday.

For Valdosta fans, the process is different. On Monday, tickets will go on sale from 3-7 p.m. at the ticket office at 1204 Williams Street for Touchdown Club members who are also season ticket holders. Season ticket holders will be limited to the number of tickets that are currently in their name. Touchdown Club members must purchase their own tickets and show their membership card at the time of purchase. Parents of varsity players, band and cheerleaders will also be able to buy tickets Monday with a limit of two per family.

On Tuesday, from 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m., tickets will be available for season ticket holders. The purchasers will be limited to the number of tickets in their name. Touchdown Club members who did not purchase on Monday can do so on Tuesday with a limit of two tickets each. Any remaining tickets will be available to the general public on Wednesday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. or until tickets are sold out and there will be a limit of two per family. No checks will be accepted, but cash only.

For information on Valdosta tickets, you can call 671-6049 or go to www.gocats.org/tickets.

Also on Friday, gates to the Lowndes High campus will not open to fans until 3:30 p.m. on. Tailgaters and those wishing to line up may not come onto Board of Education property until after 9 a.m. Friday morning. No tailgating activities can be placed or vehicles can be parked on any asphalt drive or parking area prior to 3:30 p.m. and no tailgating activity can impede the flow of traffic during the day on Friday.
