A man who used his position as a youth group leader at an area church to molest young boys has been sentenced. 29-year old Kenneth Leonard heard his sentence of 40 years inside a Valdosta courtroom on Friday. Prosecutors say Leonard will serve 15 years of his sentence behind bars and the remaining 25 years on probation.
Leonard was initially charged with five counts of sexual battery, three counts of child molestation, and two counts of electronically furnishing obscene material to minors. The then-28-year old said he met his victims as the leader of a youth group at CrossPointe Church.
He had previously plead guilty to two counts of child molestation.
