A Lowndes High School alum and former Valdosta resident has been found dead after hiking alone in Yellowstone National Park. Officials say 23-year old Austin Parker was hiking Electric Peak Tuesday afternoon when he was reported missing by a friend.
That night, search crews combed the area of Yellowstone with dogs and helicopters, but found no trace of the 23-year old. Crews finally spotted him Thursday after a helicopter crew spotted his backpack. Officials have not yet said how Parker died.
He left the area and moved to Montana in June.
