Beth DeLoach Named Principal of Valdosta Middle School

teacher in classBeth DeLoach has been named the new principal of Valdosta Middle School.  Mrs. DeLoach has more than 19 years of experience in education.  She began her career as a physical education teacher at J.L. Newbern Middle School when it opened in August of 1994.  DeLoach spent two years there before transferring to S.L. Mason Elementary and serving as that school’s PE teacher for the next 8 years.  From there she was promoted to the district’s Safe and Drug Free Schools Coordinator.  DeLoach was transferred to J.L. Newbern Middle School in 2009 as an assistant principal when the federal grant for Safe and Drug Free Schools ended.   In 2012, Dr. Janice Richardson selected DeLoach to be the assistant principal in charge of the Ninth Grade Academy at Valdosta High School.  The Valdosta Board of Education named DeLoach the principal of Valdosta Middle School during the June 10, regular meeting.

 

DeLoach is a product of Valdosta City Schools, she graduated from Valdosta High School in 1990.  She went on to Valdosta State College where she received her Bachelors of Science in Education majoring in Health and Physical Education in 1994.  She was honored by VSC that year as the Most Outstanding Health/Physical Education Student.  In 1998, she received her Masters of Education in Health and Physical Education and then in 2007, her Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership, both from Valdosta State University.

 

“As principal of Valdosta Middle School, I aspire to establish a school culture and educational program conducive to student learning.  I also seek to promote staff professional growth and development coupled with teamwork and collaboration to improve the instructional practices in every classroom.  Furthermore, I will coordinate my efforts with those of parents and the community to provide every student with the appropriate attention to meet their individual needs,” said DeLoach.

 

Mrs. DeLoach and her husband Jason have two daughters who are proud students of Valdosta City Schools.  Kaitlin, a VHS cheerleader will be a senior this year and Laura will be an 8th grader at Valdosta Middle School.  Their son Mack just completed preschool.   DeLoach will replace Dr. David Cole who has been the principal of Valdosta Middle since August of 2008.  He will be moving to the VCS Central Office into the teaching and learning department.
