GA Dept Of Education Holds Conference On Fighting Sex Trafficking

teacher in classA two-day conference is scheduled for next week in Atlanta, one that will train educators to recognize signs of, and subsequently combat human trafficking.

Speakers include former FBI agent and prosecutor Maria Velikonja, author and journalist Christine Dolan, U.S. State Department official Abraham Lee and Dr. Alveda C. King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The program is being put on by the Georgia Department of Education, with around 400 school employees and law enforcement officials expected to attend the conference.  Experts estimate that up to 500 people are caught up in human trafficking in Georgia each month.
