THOMASVILLE – November 14, 2014 – In front of friends, family, community leaders and colleagues, Thomasville Fire Rescue upheld their tradition of celebrating the achievements of their members. The promotional ceremony, held in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building on November 10, recognized four firefighters – Firefighter Bennie Palmer, Engineer Jonathan Conner, Lieutenant John Harper and Firefighter Jasmine Rice – for their recent promotions and appointments to firefighter.
“These men and women sacrifice much to serve our community,” said Fire Chief Chris Bowman. “It’s essential that we highlight the importance of their commitment to professionalism and selfless service to the citizens of Thomasville.”Chief Bowman presented each firefighter with their newly earned badges, which were then pinned to their uniforms by family members.
“As career firefighters, we will fill many different roles as we progress in our field, each requiring a different set of skills or level of experience,” Bowman said. “From hooking up to hydrants, to operating equipment, to commanding the scene of an incident, all of the jobs throughout a firefighter’s career have one thing in common: In order to succeed and move ahead, you must demonstrate professionalism and a desire to exceed expectation.”
“Each one of the individuals which we have recognized have done just that,” he added.
