Lowndes County Board of Education Gives GREAT awards

Lowndes-County-Board-Of-EducationVALDOSTA — At the November meeting of the Lowndes County Board of Education, employee Cindi Swilley and student Another Mathison were named as the GREAT award winners. GREAT is an acronym for Gratitude, Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Attitude, and Teamwork and represents a monthly award recognizing outstanding achievement of Lowndes County Schools employees and students. Honorees are recognized by the Board of Education and given a gift certificate from the Lowndes Education Improvement Foundation. Employees are nominated by their colleagues by categories designated each month. Students are nominated by teachers and administrators from the school hosting the month’s work session.

Anthony Mathison is a fifth grader at Pine Grove Elementary School. He is described by his teachers as a straight A student with a big heart. Cindi Swilley, the bookkeeper for the School Nutrition Program, was nominated by Director of School Nutrition Sharon Flythe and is described as supportive, efficient, timely, and precise in her job.

Other GREAT award winners recognized this year include: Dustin Johnson from Hahira Elementary, September student; Kathryn Bradley, Clyattville Elementary School Custodian, September employee; Chloie Barrentine from Moulton-Branch Elementary, October student; Groundsman Jamie Day, October employee.
