THOMASVILLE, GA – The Southern Center for Nonprofit Excellence (SCeNE) at Thomas University will hold a Faith & Giving workshop with the theme “Creating a Culture of Generosity” featuring Bruce Barkhauer, Director of the Center for Faith and Giving in Indianapolis, Ind.
“We are very fortunate to Bruce Barkhauer sharing his knowledge with us,” said Rick Munroe, Chair of the SCeNE Advisory Board and Vice President for Advancement at Thomas University. “This is one workshop that is a must for anyone who is involved in fundraising at any level in the church or a faith-based organization. Bruce’s insight on giving will open your eyes to the true meaning of stewardship in the church.”
For 25 years Barkhauer has led congregations in Ohio and Indiana in achieving high levels of financial support for local and global missions. He now shares his experiences across the life of the whole church. Barkhauer brings a biblically based understanding about stewardship combines with theological integrity and weds them to the current trends and best practices related to spirituality and money. Barkhauer also talks about the multiple understandings about stewardship in the biblical witness as they touch the whole life of a person of faith. In 2010 he was called as the first minister of Faith and Giving for Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
The workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 19, at Morningside United Methodist Church, 2007 Smith St., Thomasville, and from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 20, at the Center for Biblical Studies, 1560 Capital Circle NW #6, Tallahassee.
