This summer, two “swamp ghosts” spend their vacation at Wild Adventures Theme Park. The park hosts two rare albino American alligators, often referred to as “swamp ghosts” in the newly renovated Alapaha Trail. The alligators, Casper and Ivory, measure approximately six feet in length and are two of less than 100 in the world.

The white coloring of these ghost-like alligators is due to a rare genetic mutation that affects the alligator’s production of melanin, a skin pigment. According to Cajun lore, staring into the eyes of a white alligator brings good
luck and fortune. Casper and Ivory will only be on exhibit for the summer.

The addition of the two albino alligators increases the number of new animals guests can see at Wild Adventures this season to 25. Earlier this season, Wild Adventures added 6 new exhibits and 23 new animals. Wild Adventures has the largest animal collection in the area with more than 400 animals including a one-horned rhino, an elephant, giraffes, lions, tigers and lemurs.

A Wild Adventures Season Pass gives guests unlimited admission to Wild Adventures and Splash Island Water Park for all of the 2013 season and pays for itself in less than two visits.  Wild Adventures has hundreds of exotic animals, one of the South’s largest ride collections including seven coasters, Splash Island Water Park with over a million gallons of fun and the region’s largest outdoor amphitheater featuring all-star concerts, all included with a season pass.  2013 Season Passes are on-sale now through June 16 at WildAdventures.com, starting at $69.99 plus tax.
