VALDOSTA – Cynthia White, owner of EleVate Empowerment and Consultant Group, is on a mission to spread her message of self-love and acceptance here in Valdosta. With a background of working in Marriage and Family Therapy, White has always had a passion for youth outreach and feels like her purpose and calling is to spread positivity. Her devotion to female empowerment stems from her own experiences during her youth.

“Looking back to when I was growing up, I remember the struggles I had as a teenager, trying to figure out where I fit in and trying to accept myself. I want to be an agent of change and help girls struggling with the same issues I did”, stated White.

With this goal in mind, White has founded the first ever “Cuties and Crowns” Experience, an event aimed to inspire girls ages 14-18 to be their true, authentic selves. Through empowerment sessions, group activities and discussion panels, White says that she hopes this event “will give these young ladies the hope and inspiration they need and give them a healthier perspective of themselves”.

With so much negativity and hate, whether it be online through social media or through the news, it is refreshing to see people such as White working to combat this issue. Achieving self-acceptance is already hard enough, and when factoring in the teenage experiences of trying to fit in, it can seem overwhelming and almost impossible.

White wants to change that, stating “I am holding this event because I want to celebrate these young ladies. I want to help them learn to love themselves–the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything that comes along with it”.

The “Cuties and Crowns” Experience will be held on Saturday, June 8 at the V.S.U. University Center, located at 1203 N. Patterson St., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $30.
