VALDOSTA – Sunday several dads enjoyed quality family time at Wild Adventures for Father’s Day.
“It’s definitely about spending time with them and watching the smiles on their faces and having fun,” says Scott Butler, a father from Florida.
“It’s a time to remember what your fathers do for you and to take time to enjoy your family,” says Shaun Tatum, a father from Alabama.
Many roamed the park along side their kids and biggest fans. They say being a dad is their favorite job.
“Seeing them be creative, live, learn, and grow on the road to becoming a young adult or father,” Butler says.
The park says there’s also a new dad on the block this Father’s Day.
The Greater Rhea and his five new babies are making a permanent home at the South Africa Exhibit.
All six enjoyed Father’s Day after the babies were born just six weeks ago.
The Park says the father is already falling in line with his new duties, like protecting his little ones.
“In some areas, the Greater Rhea dads are called the best father in the animal kingdom,” Laurie Windham with Wild Adventures says.
She says the dad does all the leg work like building the nest and sitting on the eggs until they hatch.
After he watches over them until they’re old enough to leave the nest.
