Man arrested for sexual battery in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Fla. – A Lake City man is behind bars, accused in a sexual battery that occurred in Madison County.

Monday, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of the Desoto Wayside Park off of NE Drew Way after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a sexual battery.

The victim and witnesses were able to provide a detailed description of the suspect, who was immediately located by officers at the scene.

The suspect, Donald Bowen Jr., 42, was taken into custody.

Emergency medical assistance was provided to the victim.

MCSO says, earlier in the day, the suspect and victim drove together from Lake City to go swimming in the river at Desoto Wayside Park. After their arrival, deputies say the suspect became violent, assaulting and battering the victim multiple times until the victim found an opportunity to escape and call for help.

Bowen is charged with sexual battery with physical force, assault, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disorderly intoxication.
