DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Valdosta State Dance Team, known to Blazer Nation as the Red Hots, brought a new piece of hardware home for the TitleTown trophy case, as the squad secured a first place finish for a National Title in the Hip Hop category on Saturday in Daytona Beach, Fla.

In addition to the top finish in the Hip Hop Division II competition, the Red Hots also secured a third place finish in Jazz, while the Blazer cheerleading squad finished second in the nation as well.

Valdosta State’s title-winning routine was judged on seven different categories for an overall score of 9.674. The total score edged out Grand Valley State’s second place score of 9.580, while Lindenwood closed out the top three with a score of 9.323.

The title reflected countless hours of work by the squad and marked the fifth all-time for the team. In addition, the win represented the Red Hot’s first since their first place Hip Hop finish in 2011.
