VALDOSTA – On April 26, 2017 at 3:23 a.m., uniformed patrol units with the Valdosta Police Department responded to the 700 block of Lausanne Drive in reference to a report of someone reporting to an E- 911 dispatcher that they had been shot by an unknown person.

Patrol units arrived on scene and were able to locate the victim. Police officers provided first aid to the victim until the arrival of Paramedics. The victim was then transported by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital for treatment. She is listed in good condition.

Detectives responded to the scene and the investigation revealed that 4 different subjects were in a vehicle (including the female victim) which was shot at by unknown subjects in another vehicle. When the female was shot, the other three occupants fled on foot from the vehicle, leaving her behind.

Based on evidence found, the incident location was determined to be the 400 block of N. Troup Street.

The female victim who was shot has been cooperative, but did not personally know the three people she was riding with in the vehicle during the incident.

A second victim went to the hospital last night with a minor gunshot wound, almost 24 hours later, but never notified police beforehand. He was unable to provide information regarding the identity of the shooter. He is also listed in good condition.

Detectives are still attempting to identify the shooter in this case as well as the additional two subjects that fled during the original incident.

“If anyone has any information or knowledge of this incident, please notify the Valdosta Police Department,”said VPD Lt. Adam Bembry.
