Madison County shooting suspect in custody

GREENVILLE, Fla. – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says two people are in the hospital and a suspect is in custody following a Monday night shooting.

According to MCSO, deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim on N.W. Haffye Drive in Greenville at 11:15 p.m. on Monday. Deputies arrived on scene to find a man bleeding from his face and in need of immediate medical attention. The man told deputies that 19-year-old Willie Hamilton was the man who shot him.

Deputies then received another call about a second gunshot victim in the parking lot of the Greenville Public Library. Deputies found another man suffering from a gunshot wound who also identified Willie Hamilton as the shooter.

Both victims were taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

As deputies were rendering aid and securing the scene, they received information that Hamilton was traveling east on County Road 140 in a brown Chevrolet Impala.

Within minutes, deputies located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as the suspect, Willie Bernard Hamilton.

Hamilton was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and introduction of contraband into a county detention facility.

Hamilton was booked into the Madison County Jail where he is being held without bond.

MCSO says the investigation is continuing and additional charges are pending.
