LOWNDES Co. – A Lowndes County Fire and Rescue truck overturned on Sunday while responding to a fire.

Shortly after noon, a Lowndes County Fire and Rescue tanker was responding to a grass fire when a vehicle reportedly pulled out in front of the tanker on North Valdosta Road, said Paige Dukes, Lowndes County Clerk.

“The route the driver had to take to avoid hitting the car resulted in the apparatus rolling over,” Dukes said. “As a precaution, the firefighter was taken to South Georgia Medical Center.”

The driver of tanker did not sustain any injuries. The driver of the car was pulled over by Georgia State Patrol.
