| April 10, 2017

BROOKS COUNTY – The Brooks County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found Friday morning.

BCSO says just after 6 a.m., a man’s body was found in the 1700 block of Dewberry Road, outside of Quitman.

Neighbors say the people living at the home seem like nice people and would never expect this to happen in their neighborhood,”Oh God, what done happened? We’ve never had that happen out here. That’s all they come by and wave and we wave back..as far as knowing them personal, we didn’t know them personal.”

Authorities have not yet identified the man.

Officials say the body will be sent to the GBI crime lab in Macon for an autopsy.

The scene is currently being processed and the investigation is ongoing.

At this point, the cause of death has not been determined and it is unclear whether foul play was involved.
