Lowndes Co. farm uses cups to shield crop from overnight freeze

| March 17, 2017

LAKE PARK – A Lowndes County farm is pulling out all the stops to protect their crops from the overnight freeze.

“Everybody say a prayer for a farmer tonight because that’s all you can really do,” says Justin Corbett, with Ken Corbett Farms in Lake Park.

Wednesday, dozens of workers set out to cup thousands of eggplants.

Corbett says it’s a technique they’ve used in the past to protect crops from the cold.

For the next several nights, the farm will continue monitoring several different crops.
