Valdosta shooting suspect surrenders to authorities

VALDOSTA – A Valdosta man who was wanted in connection with a Friday shooting turned himself in to authorities Wednesday morning.

Antwain Devonta Williams, 22, has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to Valdosta Police Department reports.

Williams turned himself in the Lowndes County Jail.

On Friday at approximately 9:40 p.m., Valdosta police responded to shots fired in parking lot of Park East Apartments at 1635 E Park Avenue.

VPD officers responded and began administering first aid to the victim, Fredirick Keeley, who appeared to be suffering from several gunshot wounds. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Keeley to a local hospital for treatmen.

The crime scene was sealed off and Crime Scene Technicians from the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory were called to process the incident location for evidence. Valdosta Bureau of Investigation detectives were also called out to assist in the Investigation.

Detectives interviewed witnesses and family members at the scene. The victim was also interviewed and was cooperative. Through the investigation, with combined assistance from witnesses, detectives were able to identify Williams as the shooter.

The victim, Fredirick Keeley, is listed in good condition and is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.
