Suspect identified in Valdosta shooting

VALDOSTA – On Friday, December 2, 2016 at approximately 9:40 pm, Valdosta Police responded to shots fired in parking lot of Park East Apartments at 1635 E Park Avenue. Valdosta Police Officers responded and began administering first aid to the victim (later identified as Fredirick Keeley) who appeared to be suffering from several gunshot wounds. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported Keeley to a local hospital for treatment.

The crime scene was sealed off and Crime Scene Technicians from the Valdosta-Lowndes Regional Crime Laboratory were called to process the incident location for evidence. Valdosta Bureau of Investigation detectives were also called out to assist in the Investigation. Detectives interviewed witnesses and family members at the scene. The victim was also interviewed and was cooperative. Through the investigation, with combined assistance from witnesses, detectives were able to identify the shooter as twenty two year old Antwain Devonta Williams.

Warrants for Williams were presented to the Magistrate’s Court of Lowndes County and were signed. Williams now has active arrest warrants for:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony.

The victim, Fredirick Keeley, is listed in good condition and is expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.

“If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Williams they are asked to contact the Police Department immediately” Said Lieutenant Bembry.

    These cowards are so tuff behind a gun, then tuck tail and run like a whipped dog when it’s time to take responsibility. This is why I avoid gun-free zones.
