VALDOSTA – The 2016 Blazer football season has reached its conclusion, but that hasn’t stopped the honors from rolling in for members of the squad. Both Brandon Kemp and Kenny Moore were recognized on Friday as members of this year’s Division II Conference Commissioner’s (D2CCA) All-Super Region 2 Team.

Kemp, a 2016 First Team All-GSC red shirt freshman, made quite an impact during his first full season of competition with the Blazers this year. The 6-6, 260-pound lineman out of Stone Mountain, Ga. served as a key component of the Blazers’ offensive line and ranked second on the team with 28 knock downs and a 95 percent assignment rating during the regular season. As a result, Kemp was voted on as a member of the All-Super Region 2 First Team.

“I am extremely proud of Brandon and our entire offensive line,” said Offensive Line Coach Jeremy Darveau. “This award is a testament to the work ethic and dedication that Brandon and the other four guys have put into becoming an expert at their positions. For Brandon to earn this recognition during his first year as a starter, it gives me great hope for the future of the Blazer offensive line.”

Also representing Valdosta State, Moore made his way onto the list of honorees as a member of the Second Team. The award marked the second consecutive All-Region honor for Moore and complemented three years worth of All-Conference recognition. Moore wrapped up his career as a Blazer with an incredible season, in which he led the team in tackles, interceptions, and pass break-ups. His 11 career interceptions place him 5th all-time in Valdosta State football history, and two of those picks came in his final game in the red and black.

“Kenny’s versatility allowed us to do so many things on defense,” said Defensive Coordinator James Rowe on Friday. “He’s a lockdown cover guy, an excellent tackler, and he has elite instincts. Kenny deserves every accolade he gets.”

The All-Region recognition for Kemp and Moore will automatically earn the pair nominations for the 2016 D2CCA All-American ballot, which will be voted on in the days to come.
